The administration of the Kota Baru regency in East Kalimantan will soon launch an operation to evaluate the status of foreign workers employed by several companies in the regency, Banjarmasin Post reported on Thursday.

According to the head of the local manpower office, Sugian Noor, many expatriates working in the regency had violated their working permits. Besides having expired working permits, many foreign workers did not work according to their qualifications, he said.

?The foreign workers whose working permits have expired will be asked to go home,? he said.

Most of the foreign workers in Kota Baru work for PT Arutmin Indonesia, PT Misaja Mitra, PT Indonesia Bulk Terminal, PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, PT Rig Tender Indonesia, PT Kalimantan Energi Lestari (KEL) and PT Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku. (*)
