KPC 2003 production below target

East Kalimantan coal producer PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) only managed to produce 16.2 million tons of coal in 2003, lower than production target of 18 million tons.
KPC spokesperson Nunik Maharani Maulana told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that KPC’s failure to meet the production target was mainly due to a three-week production stoppage in September, when thousands of workers went on strike to push for ex-gratia payment.
A government source said on Monday that KPC is aiming to produce 25 million tons of coal this year. (alex)
