KPC allocates Rp 15.44b for CD in 2002

The giant coal mining firm PT Kaltim Prima Coal, which operates in East Kutai regency, East Kalimantan, will allocate some Rp 15.44 billion (US$1=Rp 10,400) in cash for its community development program (CD) in 2002, according to company president Noke Kiroyan.

The local Kaltim Post daily said that Noke was speaking at a presentation meeting with the regency legislative council Friday. Five top companies operating in the area made a presentation about their CD programs aimed at helping to improve the welfare of poor people living near the companies? operation.

The paper did not say how much money was allocated by KPC, which is equally owned by Rio Tinto and BP, for its CD program last year.(*)
