The secretary of the local office of Hipmi in Kutai, Agus Aras said in Sanggata on Friday that the local business associations including Kadin, Hipmi, Gapensi, Aspekindo and Apindo would soon meet the management of KPC and the local office of Pertamina to ask for details of the two companies? commitment.
He, however, said that the suggestion of the KPC management on the need to form a consortium to coordinate the works that could be handled by the local businessmen would be too complicated. He instead proposed the use of the existing organization such as Kadin and Hipmi to do the job.
The local businessmen have for years demanded major companies operating in East Kalimantan to subcontract their works to them. According to the local businessmen, most of the large companies in the province were not transparent and often assigned companies from outside the province to handle their projects. (*)
