The head of the public works department at the regency, Suryadi, said in Sangatta over the weekend that all the government offices in the regency had supported the company's plan to build the ring-road which would named the Soekarno-Hatta street.
He said that East Kalimantan governor had also approved the plan and had recommended it to Ministry of Public Works in Jakarta. "In principle, the Ministry of Public Works has agreed with the plan. So KPC no longer needs to wait for its approval to begin the road project," he added.
KPC at present uses public roads to transport its coal to its main coal terminal in East Kutai. However, due to growing traffic and in order to avoid accident, the coal producer has been asked to build its own road to transport the coal.
KPC has agreed and has even appointed PT Conblok to build the road. But the project has been delayed pending the approval from the Ministry of Public Works. (*)
