Coal mining company PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in East Kalimantan province could only produce 1.3 million tons of coal in October due to heavy rain, company spokesman Bambang Susanto told Petromindo.com.
He said that the rainfall in the month reached a level of 304 millimeter cubic per day, the heaviest so far this year.
KPC has set a monthly coal production target of 1.5 million tons.
It is not clear, however, if the company could meet its 2001 coal output target of 15 million tons.
Last month, KPC, which is jointly owned by Rio Tinto and BP, announced third quarter output 4.526 million tons, which was higher than 3.027 million tons in the same period last year.(Godang)
