KPC denies problems in waste disposal

Coal miner PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) has no problems in waste disposal as it currently has a good waste management system, according to general manager for external affairs Bambang Susanto.

"Our existing waste management is in accordance with the prevailing regulations," he said on Wednesday.

He was responding to a statement by State Minister of Environment Sonny Keraf who said that KPC must be more careful in its waste management and called on the company to solve the problem in its waste management.

However, the minister did not go into details on what actually happened with KPC's waste management system.

The minister acknowledged that so far there had been no complaints from local administrations and people in KPC's mining surrounding area. (*)
