The giant coal mining firm PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) held a dialogue with the East Kutai regency people on Thursday, the local Kaltim Post daily reported.

During the dialogue, KPC said that community development program in the regency should not fully rely on the company?s funding because there have also other huge companies operating in the area.

The company appealed to other firms to join hands to provide community development program.

?Frankly speaking, KPC has a limited capacity to accommodate all demands of the community?,? KPC external relations manager said in the dialogue which was attended by the press, youth organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Balikpapan.

KPC operates a vast mining site in Sangatta, East Kutai regency, East Kalimantan province. The company is obliged to divest a 51 percent stake to the East Kalimantan administration.(*)
