Coal mining giant PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in East Kalimantan is optimistic that it would reach production target set for the forth quarter of 2001.
The company's spokesman Bambang Susanto said on Tuesday that the forth quarter target of 4.5 million tons of coal would be met provided that the climate and security situation allows the company to operate normally.
"The production level in July to September in the third quarter reached 1.5 million tons per month. This level of production of 1.5 million tons will be maintained for the forth quarter of October through December," Bambang told Petromindo.com.
KPC, equally owned by Rio Tinto and BP, has targeted to increase its output from 15 million tons this year to 17 million tons next year. (*)
