KPC produced 3,9 million tons of coal in Q1 2002

East Kalimantan based coal-mining firm PT. Kaltim Prima Coal recorded first quarter coal production of 3.9 million tons, significantly higher than last year?s corresponding period production of 3.2 million tons.

The figure, however, was lower than October-December quarter production of 4.15 million tons.

KPC, said spokesperson Bambang Susanto, aimed to produce 17 million tons of coal this year.

The company is equally owned by Rio Tinto and BP and is in the process of divesting 51 percent stakes to Indonesian business entities. (godang)
