KPC records H1 production increase

East Kalimantan coal mining giant PT.Kaltim Prima Coal said on Tuesday its half-year 2003 production reached 8.83 million tons, higher that last year?s corresponding period production of 8.11 million tons.
?In the first semester of 2003, KPC produced 3.62 million tons of Prima, 3.73 million tons of Pinang and 1.47 million tons of Melawan brand,? said company spokesperson Nunik Maharani Maulana. Melawan coal is KPC?s latest brand, which has lower calorific value than the first two brands.
Nunik said KPC was on track to meet this year?s production target of 18 million tons.
KPC, which is equally owned by BP Plc and Rio Tinto is exporting most of its coal. (godang)
