East Kalimantan coal giant PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) has revoked its force majeure status since Sunday following a resumption in production, according to a senior government official.

"The company has revokes its force majeure statement since the weekend because its operation has become normal again," director of coal of the ministry of mines and energy Suyartono was quoted by the Bisnis Indonesia daily as saying.

KPC announced a force majeure condition to its domestic and foreign coal buyers last week after production was halted due to employee demonstration which also took hostage of several key production facilities.

But the employees agreed at the weekend to pull out from the mining sites and key facilities to allow the company to resume production.

Sangatta Regent Awang Faroek also said earlier on Monday that coal ships had started to enter the local coal port since Sunday. (*)
