About 130 security guards of coal mining company PT Kaltim Prima Coal renewed complaints about the company's move to place security guards from Jakarta at the company's coalmine in Sangatta.
Kaltim Post reported on Friday that the security guards, who claimed to have worked for the company for between nine and ten years, had made a joint statement to reject the presence of the security guards supplied by Group 4 Securitas.
They said in the joint statement that the company's move to bring security guards from Jakarta was unwise, and could cause dualism in the security system applied at the company's operation in Sangatta.
The paper said the security guards were worried that the security guards from Jakarta would take over some of their jobs.
The security guards also warned in the statement the policy was dangerous and could cause complex consequences given the fact that there were still many jobless people in Sangatta and the company had pledged to prioritize local people in its recruitment program.
KPC's management was not available for comments on Friday.
According to the paper, East Kalimantan police chief has approved the presence of the security guards. (*)
