KPC to increase coal output to 57m tons

Coal miner PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) plans to increase coal output this year by about 14 percent to 57 million tons from 50 million tons last year.
"We are confident the target could be achieved, as in 2013 we succeeded in producing more than 50 million tons," Muhammad Baqir, a spokesman of the East Kalimantan largest coal producer, was quoted as saying.
He added that the company has been successful in increasing production from year to year. In 2011, the company produced 40.46 million tons of coal and in 2012, the production rose to 40.94 million tons, he pointed out.
KPC is a subsidiary of IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Bumi Resources Tbk, the country?s largest coal producer. (*)
