East Kalimantan based coal-mining company PT Kaltim Prima Coal said Wednesday it was optimistic production target for the first quarter of this year could be met despite decrease in February production.
KPC only managed to produce 1.28 million tons of coal in February due to repair work on its conveyor belt. The repair work stopped production for six days, according to KPC senior official Bambang Susanto.
Bambang said the company aimed to produce some 4.5 million tons of coal this quarter. In January the company produced 1.5 million tons.
He expected favorable weather condition during March would enable KPC to meet this quarter?s production target.
KPC, which is currently equally owned by Rio Tinto and BP Plc. is in the process of divesting 51 percent of its stake to Indonesian owned companies. (godang)
