Coal miner PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) will supply three million tons of coal per year to the planned 2x1.000 MW coal-fired power plant in Batang, Central Java.

?This has been determined in a tender held by PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), which is the developer of the project,? said Head of Coal Division at state-owned electricity company PLN, Helmi Najadmuddin to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

BPI is a consortium comprising of J Power, Adaro Power and Itochu. Coal mining firm PT Adaro Indonesia, a sister company of Adaro Power, will also supply coal to the power plant, which is claimed to be the largest in Southeast Asia.

?Adaro Indonesia will supply 5 million tons of coal per year,? Helmi said, while adding that the power plant will require 7-8 million tons of coal per year.

The power plant is expected to start commercial operation in 2017. BPI will supply the electricity produced from the plant to PLN under a 25-year contract.
