KPK detains former secretary general of MEMR

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained on Thursday Waryono Karno, former secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), for alleged graft practices

KPK spokesman Johan Budi said that Waryono has been declared as suspect in graft cases in relation to a number of programs at the ministry including maintenance of the ministry?s secretariat building, socialization program, and bicycling event.

?State losses is estimated at around Rp 11 billion,? Johan said, adding that the KPK is expanding the investigation of the case.

Waryono earlier in January was named a suspect in a separate bribery case. (*)
