The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating alleged violations on about 4,000 coal mining permits in the country as demanded by the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
KPK said that it had set up a special team to assess the cases, gathering data and other required information from the field over the alleged violations.
?The KPK?s special team is still reviewing the case,? KPK's spokesman Johan Budi said.
"The result of investigation would be issued as recommendation to the government,? said Johan further, as quoted by Koran Tempo.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry found that of the 8,000 permits issued by the office, half of them are problematic permits, such as those with overlapping areas coverage. (*)
