KPK probes House?s secretary general, SKK Migas division head

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned the secretary general of the House of Representatives, Winantuningtyastiti, as a witness to the alleged corruption case implicating Sutan Bhatoegana, head of the House?s Commission VII which is in charge of energy affairs.

Sutan is charged with accepting gratuity amounting US$200,000 from former head of SKK Migas Rudi Rubiandini who has been sentenced 7 years in jail.

During the trial process of Rudi, it was unveiled that Rudi gave the money to Sutan as a Idul Fitri bonus to all members of the commission as well as to gain approval from the commission for the budget of the ministry of energy and mineral resources (MEMR) proposed by the ministry. SKK Migas was said to have been asked by MEMR?s then secretary general Waryono Karno to help get the approval of the commission for the budget proposal.

Winantu arrived at KPK on at 10.35 am WIB (Indonesian Western Time) on Tuesday (today). Before entering the interrogation room, she told reporters she brought along all documents related to the salary of Sutan, according to Kompas.com.

Separately, KPK?s spokesman Priharsa Nugraha said KPK has also summoned Popy Ahmad Nafis, Commercial Division Head at SKK Migas, for questioning over the bribery case involving Rudi and PT Kaltim Parna Industri?s President Director Artha Meris Simbolon.

Popy?s name was mentioned during Rudi?s trial, according to Inilah.com. He was said to act as if a mediator for Artha to submit her request to Rudi. During the trial of Rudi, he was found guilty of receiving $552,500 from Artha for his service of recommending the MEMR to cut the price for gas for Kaltim Parna, a petrochemical firm in East Kalimantan.
