KPK questions Jero over alleged corruption at ministry

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned on Wednesday Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik over alleged corruption at the minisry.

Upon arrival at the KPK headquarters, Jero told reporters he was summoned for questioning over alleged corruption at the ministry since 2010, according to Tribunnews.com

The KPK has accused former secretary general of the ministry, Waryono Karno, of embezzling Rp 9.8 billion out of the Rp 25 billion budget of the ministry for socialization programs, fun bike events and facily maintenance. The KPK has also accused Waryono of receiving gratuity from former head of SKK Migas, Rudi Rubiandini, who has been sentenced seven years in jail.

KPK has also questioned Jero?s wife, Triesnawati, his daughter Ayu Vibrasita, and a staff expert of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Daniel Sparingga, over the alleged embezzlement of the ministry?s budget.

Jero denied that his wife and daughter were implicated in the embezzelment.
