KPK questions minister?s wife and director general

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned the spouse of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik, and Director General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Rida Mulyana over the corruption case implicating the former secretary general of the minister, Waryono Karno

Waryono was accused by the KPK of embezzling Rp 9.8 billion out of Rp 25 billion budget allocated by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for various activities, including socialization program, fun bike and building maintenance. He was also accused of accepting US$200,000 in bribes from former chairman of SKK Migas Rudi Rubiandini, who has been sentenced seven years in jail for corruption.

Jero?s spouse, Triesnawati Jero Wacik, arrived at the KPK office Thursday morning (today) while Rida is expected to come later today, according to the local media.

Aside from Rida, KPK has also scheduled to question several staff of the ministry, namely Suryadi, a logisitics official, Murniati, an IT official, and Vanda Arsianti Puspitasari, a human resources and general affairs at BPH Migas, and a private company employee Tri Djoko Utomo.

Several days ago, the KPK also questioned Daniel Sparingga, an expert staff of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, over the same case. (*)
