KPK slaps travel ban on Sutan Bhatoenaga

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has requested the Immigration Office to slap a travel ban on Sutan Bhatoenaga, Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission VII overseeing the energy and mining sector, to facilitate an ongoing investigation into alleged bribery and graft scandal. Sutan is also a senior member of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono?s Democrat Party.

The KPK has also requested for travel ban on another Commission VII member Tri Yulianto, Gerhard Marten Rumeser (a former deputy at the upstream oil and gas regulator), and Sri Utami (an official at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR).

The three are being probed in relation to bribery and graft scandal involving former secretary general of MEMR, Waryono Karno, KPK spokesman Johan Budi said.
