KPK to summon PLN director for alleged involvement in graft

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will summon state-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara's (PLN) director for electricity outside Java, Madura and Bali, Hariadi Sadono this week for his alleged involvement in corruption in the company, Koran Tempo reported on Monday.

KPK?s spokesman Johan Budi said in Jakarta last week that Hariadi would be investigated over his alleged role in graft in the procurement of software for customers management system which took place when he acted as the general manager for distribution in East Java.

Hariadi, appointed to his current position in March 2008, had been named a suspect in the graft which might inflict losses of up to Rp 80 billion (1US$ = Rp 10,450) to the state.

PLN?s commissioner Al Hilal Hamdi said earlier that the company could not impose a sanction against Hariadi until KPK officially declared him a suspect.

Meanwhile, Sofyan Djalil the State Minister for State Owned Enterprises (SOEs), has said that he would soon place Hariadi Sadono into "not-active" status pending the the conclusion of the investigation.. ?We are waiting for an official notification from the commission," Sofyan said last week.(*)
