KPPU penalizes Chevron for violating anti-monopoly law

The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) ruled on Thursday that oil and gas firm PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia has violated the anti-monopoly law in relation to the export pipeline front end engineering and design contract tender.
The anti-monopoly watchdog said in a press statement that Chevron has been engaged in discriminatory practices during the implementation of the tender, therefore breaching chapter 19 of Law No 5/1999, and ruled the company to pay a penalty Rp 2.5 billion.
In the same ruling, KPPU said that PT Worley Parsons Indonesia had not breached the anti-monopoly law.
It is not immediately clear how Chevron had violated the anti-monopoly law, and the relation of the latter company in the case.
