Krakatau begins commissioning of galvanized steel plant

PT Krakatau Nippon Steel Sumikin (KNSS), a joint venture between IDX-listed steel maker PT Krakatau Steel and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp, has started trial production of its galvanized steel plant in Cilegon, Banten Province, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Friday.
The paper quoted Director General of Metal Industry, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics at the Ministry of Industry, I Gusti Putu Suryawirawan as saying that the new plant is scheduled to be inaugurated by Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto in April of next year.
The 500,000-ton per annum galvanized steel plant, which processes cold rolled coil produced by Krakatau Steel, will supply its output to Japanese carmakers operating in Indonesia. (*)
