IDX-listed steel maker PT Krakatau Steel Tbk said that construction of a blast furnace plant in Cilegon, Banten, is expected to be completed in the first semester of this year.
The company said in a statement that as per March of this year, construction progress of the blast furnace plant has reached 79 percent in terms of financial terms. ?This project is expected to be completed in the first semester of 2017,? the statement issued late last week said.
Krakatau said in September of last year that the blast furnace plant was supposed to be completed before the end of the year. The company did not say the reason for the delay.
The company said previously that the blast furnace complex consists of blast furnace plant, sintering plant, coke oven plant, pig iron caster, stockyard and material/hot metal handling to produce 1,200,000 metric tons per year of hot metal and pig iron.
On November 15, 2011, the company signed a construction contract for the blast furnace plant with a consortium of Capital Engineering and Research Incorporation Limited.
