Krakatau Osaka?s plant starts commercial production

PT Krakatau Osaka Steel (KOS) has started commercial production of its newly completed steel plant in Cilegon, Banten Province, producing reinforced bars, Kontan reported on Friday.
The paper quoted President Director of Osaka Steel Co Ltd, which owns 80 percent of KOS, Junji Ochida as saying that starting next month, the plant will also produce small section steel.
Until end of next year, the plant is expected to produce 200,000 tons of reinforced bar and section steel products. The plant has an installed annual production capacity of 500,000 tons. Ochida said that the plant may start to run at full production capacity by the end of next year.
IDX-listed steel maker owns 20 percent of KOS. (*)
