Krakatau plans 160 MW combined cycle power plant

IDX-listed steel maker PT Krakatau Steel Tbk plans to develop its own power plant in a bid to cut cost amid rising trend in electricity prices, Media Indonesia reported on Friday.

The paper quoted President Director Irvan Kamal Hakim as saying that subsidiary PT Krakatau Daya Listrik will develop a 160 MW gas and steam power plant. He added that feasibility study has been completed, but declined to disclose the location of the project and the size of investment.

Irvan said that the planned power plant project comes amid the company?s plan to increase production capacity, and possibility of the government cutting down import tariff of capital goods related to power generation projects. (*)
