Krakatau Posco plant remains in operation

PT Kraktau Posco said that its steel plant in Cilegon, Banten Province, remains in operation despite the recent explosion, and ensures supply of slab for steel maker PT Krakatau Steel Tbk, Investor Daily reported.

Corporate Secretary of Krakatau Posco Christiawaty Ferania Kaseger said that it would take about two days to complete the repair work of damage caused by the explosion on Monday at a steel making plant area.

?During the recovery period, the operational of the plant continues normally. But at the area converter steel making plant, there has been investigation process both internally and with the related parties. Over the next few days, we plan to hold annual maintenance,? she said.

Krakatau Posco is a joint venture between South Korea?s Posco Group (70%) and Indonesia?s Krakatau Steel (30%). It has annual production capacity of 3 million tons. (*)
