IDX-listed steel giant PT Krakatau Steel Tbk plans to supply steel products for tower transmission projects of state-owned electricity company PT PLN as the company seeks to capitalize on massive infrastructure development in the country.
Bisnis Indonesia quoted Krakatau President Director Sukandar as saying Tuesday that PLN will require between 250,000 and 300,000 tons per year of steel products for the construction of its electricity transmission towers. ?It will be developed over the next 5-6 years,? he said.
In addition, Sukandar said that his company is also seeking to supply steel products for the construction of the Kuala Tanjung port in North Sumatra to be developed by state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I.
Krakatau last year saw sales volume dropped to 1.94 million tons from 2.31 million tons in 2014 amid slowing economic growth, and the massive inflow of imports. (*)
