Kris Energy will start next month its exploration activities in Kutai Block, East Kalimantan, by drilling the Tayum-1 well, about 60 kilometer offshore Mangkok island on the Mahakam delta.
Together with the upstream authority SKK Migas, Kris Energy has launched their social campaigns since last week to inform the local people about the exploration plan before starting its exploration activities.
?We?ll start the drilling next month (April),? Kris Energy General Manager Basuki Kusmuparto said over the weekend.
He said that his company hoped the local government will support its exploration activities. ?If we find an economic reserve, then it will increase our national reserve,? he said.
Head of East Kalimantan Mining and Energy Division, Amrullah said that the local administration hopes that the exploration activities will later lead to production of oil and gas that will help drive the local economic growth. ?We?re also interested in getting a participating interest later,? he added.
Head of Public Relations and Organization with the SKK Migas Kalimantan-Sulawesi Representative Office, Yanin Kholison said that through the social campaigns his office hoped to strengthen a partnership with all stakeholders concerned in the province.
