KrisEnergy starts East Seruway 2D seismic survey

KrisEnergy Ltd, an independent upstream oil and gas company, said that it had started a 947 kilometer 2D seismic survey across its East Seruway production sharing contract (PSC) in the Malacca Strait, Indonesia.
The vessel Akademik Fersman, which is contracted by MultiClient Geophysical ASA, commenced the data collecting as part of a regional survey on 4th February 2013. The program is expected to take approximately 20 days.
Chris Gibson-Robinson, KrisEnergy?s Director Exploration & Production, said that there were several producing oil and gas fields along the eastern flank of the North Sumatra Basin, and an exploration well in the 1980s demonstrated the presence of gas in the block.
?We are looking forward to receiving the new data to interpret and confirm our mapping of the prospects and leads in the area,? he said.
KrisEnergy acquired a 100 percent working interest in the East Seruway PSC in October 2011 and became its operator. The exploration block covers 5,865 square kilometer offshore Sumatra over the North Sumatra Basin. Water depths in the Malacca Strait area range from 25 meters and 60 meters.
