SGX-listed KS Orka Renewables Pte Ltd (KS Orka) is currently drilling a second exploration well at the Sorik Merapi geothermal project, in Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra Province.
"Drilling of the first well has been completed, drilling of the second well is now ongoing," spokesperson of KS Orka, Syahrini Nuryanti told Petromindo.com on Thursday.
She said that well testing will be carried out after drilling of the second well is already completed because the second well is needed to drain the water. Well testing is planned to be conducted at the beginning or the middle of February, she added.
The company said earlier in a statement that the first drilling rig operated by Dati was proceeding with drilling works on pad A and another drilling rig from KS Drilling was being mobilized for another area in the concession, pad E.
According to Syahrini, her company plans at this early stage to drill four exploration wells. "However, if the results of the drilling are good, then the company is likely to drill more wells until 7-11," she said.
