Australian oil company Kalrez Energy Limited said Tuesday that it and Kuwaiti?s Kufpec Limited had re-spudded Oseil-2 well which is located within Seram Non-Bula production sharing contract onshore province.

Kalrez said the main objective of the re-entry to Oseil 2 is to sidetrack, build up and drill a horizontal hole to obtain a higher Production Index for the well.

?It is hoped that the successful intersection of microfractures will result in increased flow rates. Following on from the sidetrack Oseil-2 will be completed as a producing well, said Kalrez in a statement.

A re-entry horizontal section is expected to produce above 2,000 BOPD whilst minimizing the potential for water production and if micro fractures are intersected a greater production rate is expected, said Kalrez.

Oseil 2 is part of the Oseil Oilfield development, currently under construction on Seram Island in eastern Indonesia. Kufpec is the operator and 97.5 percent interest holder while Kalrez has the remaining 2.5 percent. (alex)
