Kupang solar panel power plant to start operation February 2016: PLN

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN expects that a 5 MW solar panel photovoltaic power plant project in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara province, which is being developed by state-owned engineering firm PT Len Industri, to start operation in February 2016.

Syah Darwin, PLN's Head of New and Renewable Energy Division told Petromindo.com Thursday that the progress of the project currently has reached around 85 percent.

"We expect by February 2016 to be commissioning and entering the Kupang grid system," he said.

Darwin revealed that the project has a total investment of about US$11.27 million. Meanwhile, the power purchase agreement for this power plant was signed on January 9, 2015.

Once completed, it would be the first Independent Power Producer (IPP) solar panel project in Indonesia.
