Kutai Kartanegara regency extends partial ban on coal barging activity

Kutai Kartanegara regency has extended emergency status related to the Mahakam bridge collapse accident to February 17, 2012, an industrial source told Petromindo.Com.
Earlier, the local government had extended the emergency status to Dec 25, 2011
The source said with the current extended status coal barging activity from the upper side of the bridge is still limited. From 20.00-24.00 empty barges may pass to go up to the mine areas, and from 24.00-05.00 for barges carrying coal down from the mines to transhipment points or the mother vessels.
?The barging activity in the Mahakam river is still limited,? the source said.
The regency had first opened coal barging operations partially on Saturday afternoon of December 10, ending the total ban which was imposed immediately after the accident on Nov 26, 2011.
