The Kutai Kertanegara administration in East Kalimantan said that it would revoke the mining license of coal mining companies which failed to implement land reclamation program properly.
The local Kaltim Post daily quoted Kutai Kertanegara Regent Syaukani HR as saying that according to the existing law, coal mining companies were obliged to refill the holes in their coal mining sites and planted them with threes.
He said that the autonomy law No. 22/1999 provided the administration with the power to revoke mining license.
Syaukani also said that the public had been complaining that some coal mining companies had not been serious in implementation their land reclamation obligation.(*)
