The local House of Representative in Kutai regency, East Kalimantan province, regretted the failure of the management team of a coal mining company identified only as MHU to be present at the commission A on Tuesday.
Head of the commission A Djoko Iswahjudi said that the House felt neglected by the coal mining company. He said that the House would file a lawsuit against the company for deliberately ignoring the summon.
"There's arrogance among the MHU management, and we at the House felt very disappointed," he said.
Djoko said that the House decided to summon MHU following protest by local farmers that the coal mining company, located in Beloro village, in Kutai, had damaged their plantation.
He said that the local farmers planned to occupy the mining site of the coal company, but the legislators persuaded the farmers to drop such a drastic measure.
Djoko said that the House promised the farmers to summon MHU to help settle the dispute. (*)
