The Kutai Regency Parliament in East Kalimantan has formed a special team to check the conduct of the SBSI labor union in organizing labor strike, the local Kaltim Post daily reported.

The paper said that there has been information that SBSI had also sent housewives and school children to participate in labor demonstration promising them a certain amount of cash.

The SBSI labor union has been accused of creating labor strike that led to unrest and the blockade of company facilities.

Oil and gas company PT Vico Indonesia and coal mining firm PT Thiess have to temporarily halt their operation after their employees held a strike organized by SBSI.

The local offices of the Chamber of Trade and Industry (Kadin), and Indonesian Employer Association (Apindo) have also appealed to the local authority to take action against SBSI for creating unrest in its strike and blockading company assets.

Kadin accused the SBSI officials as provocateurs.

Some 29 youth organizations in Kutai Regency has also called on the government to expel from the area.

But SBSI spokesman Nason Nadeak lambasted at the youth organizations, saying that they have no rights in dealing with labor affairs.

Nason also said that expelling SBSI from the province a violation of human rights and the country's Constitutions. (*)
