The federation of the labor union in the mining, energy and chemical sector (FSP-KEP) in Kutai regency, East Kalimantan, resumes talks today with the association of the Indonesian employer (Apindo) and executives of companies over demand to raise the minimum salary to Rp 504 thousand (1US$=Rp 9,350) from the current Rp 300 per month per person.
The local Kaltim Post daily reported that this will be the fifth round of negotiation after the fourth round held at the weekend failed to reach consensus.
The paper quoted the head of the FSP-KEP Kutai office Andi Muchtar as saying that if today's talks failed to come with an agreement, the federation would invite East Kalimantan Governor to intervene.
The Kutai FSP-KEP groups around 10,000 labors working in the mining, energy and chemical sector in the regency. (*)
