The newly operated 2 x 300 MW coal-fired Labuan power plant in Banten has temporarily stopped the operation of one of its two generator units due to technical problems at its boiler.

IGA Ngurah Adnyana, state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara's (PLN) operation director for Java and Bali regions, said in Jakarta on Sunday that the troubled power unit had stopped operation for three days.

?There is a problem at its boiler, and it is now being repaired,? He said, adding that the stoppage had reduced the power supply to the Java and Bali distribution system by 300 megawatt.

The Labuan coal-fired power plant which has two generator units each with a capacity of 300 MW was officially inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in January, this year. The power plant is one of dozens of coal-fired power plants built under the government?s first 10,000 MW power plant development program. (*)
