Germany?s Lahmeyer International said it has won seven EPC contracts from Indonesia?s state-owned electricity company PT PLN, covering 17 power plant sites throughout Indonesia to produce a total generating capacity of 935 MW.
The company said in a statement Thursday that the project scope includes the preparation of a market analysis, detailed cost estimates for the power plants, the review of tender documents, prequalification of suppliers, and the award processes for the EPC lots. Each EPC contract will contain between 1 and 6 individual sites. Gas engine and gas turbine power plants, a combined cycle power plant as well as a coal-fired power plant will produce electrical outputs ranging from 20 to 200 MW at the various locations. The short project duration of only six months will put great demands on the whole team.
The project is part of the Indonesian infrastructure program envisaging to provide an additional 35 GW of installed capacity by 2019. This measure will considerably improve energy supply for the populous archipelago state, and will create good preconditions to attract new industries. Up to now, the majority of the country?s added value is based on the sale of raw materials. The program was initiated in 2015.
