The Lamongan regent Masfuk said in Surabaya on Wednesday that the 100-hectare land which is located in Sedayu Lawas village in the Brondong district would be an ideal location for the construction of the company?s refinery plant.
He said that besides the land, the Lamongan regency would also provide infrastructure facilities including a 1.5- kilometer jetty to support the planned operation of the refinery plant. "The jetty facility located in the coastal area near the Sedayu village will be quite important for the operation of the refinery plant," he added.
According to Masfuk, the plan to offer the 100 ha-land and jetty facilities to Mobil Cepu would be part of the regency?s participation in the company?s oil exploration and production activities. He added that the proposal to offer the land and jetty facilities had been approved by the local councilors.
He said that the local government was still negotiating the percentage of investment that would be made by the Lamongan regency in Mobil Cepu?s oil exploration and production activities.
Mobil Cepu which is a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia operates the Cepu oil field which covers some parts of Cepu regency in Central Java and Lamongan in East Java. The Bojonegoro regency in Central Java has also demanded Mobil Cepu to be involved in the company?s projects. (*)
