A breakdown at the recently launched floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Lampung operated by state-controlled gas distribution firm PGN is currently being fixed by provider Hoegh LNG, Bisnis Indonesia reported Friday.

The paper quoted PGN Director for Investment Planning and Risk Management, Wahid Sutopo, as saying that Hoegh is responsible in repairing the FSRU because the facility is still at the commissioning stage.

PGN started operating the Lampung FSRU a few months ago under a 20-year lease contract with Hoegh, a Norwegian company.

Wahid said his company could not yet explain what the problems are as the FSRU is still under repair. But he quickly added that the planned gas supply from the Lampung FSRU would not be disrupted as the facility is still at the commissioning stage.

Meanwhile, Acting Chairman of the upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas, J. Widjonarko said that of the five LNG cargoes allocated for the Lampung FSRU, it has so far only ascertained to take up one cargo. If the allocated cargoes could not be taken-up by the FSRU, the authority would take the option of selling the LNG cargoes directly in the spot market. (*)
