Lampung pushing PGN to build gas infrastructures

The provincial government of Lampung is asking state owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) to realize its plan of developing integrated gas infrastructures in the province so that the province can soon benefit from the cheap energy.

The request was made during a meeting between top officials of the province, including Vice Governor Joko Umar on Thursday and PGN top officials including Engineering and Development Director Djoko Saputro and Director of Finance Riza Pahlevi, according to a statement from PGN.

During the meeting, Djoko and Riza said PGN is ready to realize the project.

Vice Governor Joko said the South Sumatra-West Java pipeline owned by PGN passes through Lampung but the province serves as a mere ?spectator? of the facility and can?t get any gas supplies due to the absence of gas distribution infrastructures in the province. He thus called on PGN to soon realize the development of the infrastructure so that businesses, households can get gas supplies starting the end of this year.

He said the provincial authorities had issued permits for the firm to build the infrastructures back in 2011.

PGN plans to build a integrated gas pipeline network in the province, comprising of 100 km pipeline with a diameter of 12-16 inches, which will be connected to the FSRU Lampung, now under construction offshore Lampung, with a storage capacity of 2 million tons of LNG.
