Landslide at Freeport?s mine, no casualties

Copper and gold mine PT Freeport Indonesia said a landslide occurred today (Tuesday) at its mine in Tembagapura, Papua but it caused no casualties.

Freeport?s Communication Manager Riza Pratama said the mine was hit by heavy rainfalls on Monday, causing floods in several locations in Tembagapura and surrounding areas. Several facilities of the firm were inundated. No death tools or casualties were report,? Riza said.

The firm?s Emergency Preparedness & Response (EP&R) Team is now on standby in several areas to help evacuate workers affected by the incident, Riza said, adding the incident caused no troubles on production activities.
