Landslide kills Freeport employee

An employee of mining giant PT Freeport died and four others suffered injuries in a landslide at the company?s mining site in Papua on Sunday.
Papua Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto said on Monday as quoted by The Jakarta Post that the landslide was caused by heavy rain on the hilly site at Mile 72.
Freeport spokesman Mindo Pangaribuan confirmed the accident, adding that the incidents did not affect mining activities. ?One employee died and four others are now being treated at Tembagapura hospital. We express our deepest condolences,? he said. (*)
