Lanna Harita to produce two million tons of coal this year

East Kalimantan-based coal producer PT Lanna Harita Indonesia (LHI) is set to increase its coal production to two million tons this year from 1.5 million tons last year to meet higher demand.

Assistant marketing manager Franky Rawis said the firm had secured two contracts to supply a total of 350,000 tons of coal to Hong Kong (200,000 tons) and South Korea (150,000 tons).

?We have successfully delivered a total of 280,000 tons of coal to both countries under the contracts, and will ship another 70,000 tons of coal to Hong Kong this October,? Franky said, adding that the company also scheduled to ship one panamax vessel of coal to India in September.

According to Franky, LHI also regularly ships its products to Thailand, Taiwan and Japan.

LHI operates a coalmine in Tanah Merah, near Banjarmasin, East Kalimantan. The company is 63.33 percent owned subsidiary of Thai?s Lanna Resources. (dino/godang)
