Thailand's Lanna Resources Pcl is eyeing two coal-fired power plant projects in East Kalimantan, namely Kaltim-3 (1x200 MW) and Kaltim-6 (1x200 MW). Indonesia?s state-owned electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) unveiled four power tenders in early August including the two projects.
"We have submitted the prequalification document and wait for PLN's announcement by the end of September," Srihasak Arirachakaran, Chief Executive Officer of Lanna, said on the sidelines of the 4th Annual Coal Buyers and Producers Meeting on Wednesday organized by Petromindo.com.
Srihasak added that Lanna Resources only focuses on power projects in East Kalimantan, where its two coal concessions, operated by PT Lanna Harita Indonesia and PT Singlurus Pratama, are located.
Srihasak said Lanna has a consortium company which will develop the power plant but did not elaborate Lanna's partners.
PLN has recently announced tender of a number of coal-fired power plant projects, namely Bangka-1 (2x100 MW), Kalselteng-3 (2x100 MW), Kaltim-3 and Kaltim-6.
PLN's Senior Manager of External Relations Agung Murdifi said that the commercial operation date (COD) of the projects is in 2019.
