Lanna starts coal mining operation

Wednesday, March 4 2009 - 08:39 AM WIB

Thai mining firm Lanna Resources Limited said on Wednesday that its Indonesian coal unit PT. Lanna Harita Indonesia (LHI) has restarted normal coal production and supplies.

?The government of Indonesia has permitted LHI to resume coal production and distribution from the coal mine project No. 1 (LHI) starting from March 3, 2009,? it said in statement.

LHI expects coal production and supplies to stand at 1.5 million tons this year, similar to last year's figures.

The firm suspended operation in December 2008 as it was seeking to rehabilitate some of the mining areas damaged by heavy rain during recent storms. (denny)
